  1.    Terminius 2.0c ReadMe file

  3.       Due to a leak during beta testing of 2.0b, that version was not
  4.    officially released.
  5.  
  6.       The History.txt file included with this archive details the
  7.    other changes and fixes in the 2.0c release of Terminus.
  8.  
  9.       Both installation scripts can be executed from any directory
  10.    you choose instead of just from floppy as before.

  13.    Terminius 2.0a ReadMe file
  14.    --------------------------
  15.       This is an interim bugfix release due to several major problems
  16.    with the initial 2.0 release of Terminus.
  17.  
  18.       This release of Terminus now provides a screen mode requester
  19.    for 2.x users.  In order to access it you will need to have the
  20.    V38 release of asl.library (included with the 2.1 release of
  21.    AmigaDOS) or the V38 (version 2.1) of ReqTools present in your
  22.    LIBS: directory.  If neither is found Terminus will not be able
  23.    to start.

  29.    Terminius 2.0 ReadMe file
  30.    -------------------------
  31.       Welcome to Terminus, the long awaited replacement to JR-Comm 1.02a.
  32.    This archive represents two years of development of which one year was
  33.    spent beta testing over 30 releases by over 40 people.  They have my
  34.    deepest gratitude for putting up with me for the duration.
  35.    
  36.       Although I sincerly think that this program is quite reliable it
  37.    most likely still contains a few bugs being that it is the first
  38.    release.  Hopefully, they're few and minor, if not, they will be
  39.    corrected shortly as the reports come in.
  40.    
  41.       Two items that are missing from this initial release are the
  42.    JR-Comm to Terminus phonebook converter and a basic host script.
  43.    I've not had time to finish the utility yet, I plan to have it done
  44.    shortly and will post it seperately once it is finished.  Registered
  45.    versions will not ship until the utility is done either, figure on a
  46.    few weeks for that to get done and the registered version to be
  47.    released.

  49.       The host script was planned on being developed simultaneously
  50.    with the debugging of the script interpeter.  Things got sidetracked
  51.    and I never got around to completing it.  The host.scp file that's
  52.    included with this archive is a script fragment that handles user
  53.    login, nothing more.  If you would like to "adopt" the host script
  54.    I'd appreciate the help, just ask so that I know not to duplicate
  55.    your efforts.

  58.    Installing Terminus
  59.    -------------------
  60.       This archive should be dearchived to a blank floppy named
  61.    "TerminusMaster", but it can be installed from any directory you
  62.    desire.  Two installation scripts are present, one for hard disk
  63.    installation and one for creating a boot/work floppy disk set for
  64.    use on a floppy based system.  The script is able to create 1.3, 
  65.    2.04 and 2.1 boot disks.

  68.    Registering Terminus
  69.    --------------------
  70.       Registered JR-Comm users can upgrade to Terminus for a fee of $10US
  71.    plus a small fee for shipping.  First-time users can register Terminus
  72.    for $40US plus shipping as well.

  74.       Credit cards are still out of my reach.  All attempts at getting a
  75.    merchant account have been unseccessful so far.  I'm still trying
  76.    though.

  78.       I'm also trying to locate some distribution contacts in Europe and
  79.    Australia so that people overseas don't have to get penalized by the
  80.    high cost of converting local currency to US funds.

  82.       I'll post more info about these things in the coming weeks once the
  83.    initial release has settled down.

  86.    Printed user manuals
  87.    --------------------
  88.       Although I can no longer provide for printed output due to the size
  89.    of the user manual, I am looking into commercial printing services to
  90.    get a small format, bound manual done.  Further details will be made
  91.    available when and if one becomes available.

  94.    Future plans for Terminus
  95.    -------------------------
  96.       I've already outlined the addition of several major features that
  97.    will be added to Terminus.  These items will be added prior to moving
  98.    over to a WB2.0-only version of Terminus.

  100.       Tentative plans are:

  102.       2.1 - Add RIP support.  RIP is an acronym for Remote Image Protocol
  103.             that is gaining popularity in the IBM PC world and is the
  104.             intended graphics replacement for SkyPix which was dropped
  105.             from Terminus.
  106.    
  107.       2.2 - Add Hydra protocol.  Hydra is the only publically documented
  108.             full-duplex transfer protocol that I've come in contact with
  109.             so far.  It originated on the IBM PC and hopefully has some
  110.             support there.

  112.       2.3 - Tokenize the script interpeter for faster execution.
  113.    
  114.       2.4 - Add a full implementation of Super Kermit with Sliding
  115.             Windows.
  116.    
  117.       Additional features may appear with each release, but these are
  118.    the major items that I have slated for development at this time.
